History[edit]
Lisa Lionheart was designed to provide a more positive role model for young girls, blending the wisdom of Gertrude Stein, the wit of Cathy Guisewite, the tenacity of Nina Totenberg, the common sense of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and the down-to-earth charm of Eleanor Roosevelt.[1]
In the girls' section of the elementary school, paintings by Frida Kahlo and Georgia O'Keeffe hang on the walls, joined in humorous juxtaposition by a Cathy cartoon by Cathy Guisewite.[2]
