History[edit]

Ann Landers was the woman that got the rest of Great Aunt Hortense's will money [1] and was also the name on Homer's watermelon he was supposed to bodyguard in bodyguard school.[2]

Ned Flanders called Ann Landers a boring old biddy after drinking a blackberry schnapps.[3]

Ann Landers was stored at the Springfield Shopper newspaper where she slept for 23 hours a day along with Dear Abby. Ann Landers said "My advice is to free us or let us die."[4]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Esther Pauline "Eppie" Lederer, who wrote Ask Ann Landers under the pen name Ann Landers. and her identical twin sister Pauline Esther "Popo" Phillips, who wrote Dear Abby under the pen name Abigail Van Buren, became embittered and estranged rivals over the dueling syndicated advice columns.

The column Ask Ann Landers ended with Lederer's death in 2002.
