Mary Kay (last name not known) is a woman who works at The Singing Sirloin.

History

Mary Kay's job at The Singing Sirloin seems to be similar to a Maitre d', as her workstation is located near the front door. When the Simpson family ate at the restaurant to celebrate Bart's getting an A on an astronomy quiz, Homer's credit card was rejected. The Simpsons then decided to dine and dash. As they were making a run for the front door, two waitpersons sang out, "They're getting away! Stop them, Mary Kay!" Mary Kay was standing near the front door and pulled a lever (disguised as the "Please wait to be seated" sign) which activated a portcullis-like barrier, trapping the Simpsons inside the restaurant.

Mary Kay was among the group of employees giving the Simpsons a dirty look as Homer started blustering. She also watched the family's Mariachi performance, which they were forced to give in order to pay for their dinner.

Behind the Laughter

  • From her pink makeup and all-pink outfit, Mary Kay seems to be a reference to the Mary Kay company, which produces and sells cosmetics and skin care products.
