Role in The Simpsons
Mindy Simmons was an engineer at the plant, whom Homer developed a crush on, due to many superficial similarities the two characters had. When the two were sent to a National Energy convention in Capital City, Homer was tempted to enter into an affair with her, but in the end Homer remained true to his marriage vows and stayed loyal toMarge.
Firing
After Homer decided to pursue a relationship, has still been used as a background character at the plant in subsequent episodes (such as The Twisted World of Marge Simpson), suggesting she may have been rehired.

She appears at church in the beginning attending Green Day's funeral and a bunch of other crowd scenes.
Similarities to Homer
According to The Homer Book, she is the female equivalent of Homer, and likes Cheeseburgers, a quick nap before lunch, foot-long chili dogs, whipped cream straight from the can, raspberry swirl doughnuts with a double glaze, Drinking beer and watching TV, and broasted anything.
