James Corky "Jimbo" Jones (voiced by Pamela Hayden) is a character of the TV show The Simpsons. He wears a beanie and a black Punisher T-shirt. He can often be seen hanging around Nelson, Kearney, and Dolph. He is generally acknowledged as the leader of this clique. His dominant characteristics may appeal to a wider group as well. In the episode See Homer Run, Jimbo runs for mayor of Springfield, with the slogan, "Tough on nerds, tougher on dorks."
Jimbo's real name is Corky, but has also been referred to as James, potentially indicating a connection of his nickname to a middle name. He enjoys torturing his schoolmates and shoplifting. In one episode it is hinted that he comes from a well-off family, displayed when—with the school closed for a teacher's strike—he and his mother watch soap operas and sip tea together in a very nice living room. He also has connections to the Rich Texan. In another episode, Jimbo becomes the boyfriend of Bart's babysitter Laura Powers (voiced by Sara Gilbert), on whom Bart had a crush. However, Bart got even one night when Laura was babysitting him and had Jimbo over. Bart made one of his trademark prank calls to Moe's Tavern, and told Moe when he found out that it was a prank that his name was Jimbo Jones of 742 Evergreen Terrace. Moe came to the house with a rusty knife, and Jimbo started to cry like a little girl. Laura broke up with Jimbo shortly afterwards.
In Treehouse of Horror V, he was turned into "sloppy Jimbos" (apparently a variant of the sloppy Joe sandwich) by Principal Skinner. Jimbo has stated he intends to go to law school when he is older because he doesn't "believe in nothin' no more." This announcement caused Homer Simpson some distress, as Jimbo held him to be a role model when he headed a vigilante group and was let down by Homer's incompetence.
Despite his reputation as a bully and delinquent, it is significant that it is sometimes hinted that Jimbo is in fact Christian, with strong moral standards. In one episode, he suggests that he stole dolls because "they demean women". In another, Homer tells Jimbo "your King commands it" to which Jimbo boldly replies "Jesus is our only King". Despite this he has also said "there's a great guy who was a carpenter to he has long hair and a lot of crazy ideas..... his name's Gunnar he's dating my mom".
