Mr. Muntz is Nelson's father. He has a motorbike and was once Nelson's soccer coach. When his wife got got hooked on cough drops, he left the family with her gold tooth, with the excuse that he "went to the store for a pack of cigarettes". Nelson missed his father and often believed he really went for cigarettes.

Bart once found Mr. Muntz at a circus and brought him back. He explained he never intended to leave the family: when he went for the cigarettes, he also bought a chocolate bar, which unfortunately had peanuts, which he is allergic to. When he bit the bar, he recived neurofibromatosis and couldn't talk. A man from a circus took him away for a freak show where people would see him inside a cage. Now he came back, they are a family again.
