History

Tom Brokaw was on TV talking about the NASA space shuttle launch to study the effect of weightlessness on tiny screws. As Brokaw and the other news reporter were talking about it, Homer declared it boring and changed the channel.[1]

Brokaw gave a speech at Memorial Day in Springfield. He was interrupted by the veterans. When the veterans heard a civil war reenactment, they ran off to fight, and Abraham Simpson told Brokaw that he wanted a foot rub when he got back.[2]

Brokaw was on the news, finishing a story about how the number of states had been reduced to forty-nine. He then announced a report on soccer moms who hate soccer. When the commercial break started, Brokaw puked into a bin and complained about being fat.[3]

Tom Brokaw was seen at Stagnant Springs Health Spa where he was given a new face.[4]

He, with Dan Rather teased Kent Brockman at the Springfield Press Club. He then asked Chloe Talbot if she would like to feel his muscle. Later, Brokaw asked Chloe if she would like to go to his celebrity racquetball tournament.[5]

In the 2010 Winter Olympics, he announced that his idol is Lisa Simpson. He has her book, Unicorns and Me, and CD, and a large of poster with her autograph on.[6]

After Kent Brockman interviewed Krusty the Clown, who ran out of the room, he saw Tom Brokaw in the mirror. When Brokaw spoke to him, Kent Brockman got scared.[7]

Behind the Laughter

Tom Brokaw didn't provide the voice of the character, Harry Shearer did, although Brokaw was asked to voice himself in "Bart vs. Lisa vs. 3rd Grade". This was because Brokaw liked Harry Shearer's impersonation of him.[8]

Brokaw was originally intended to be the newscaster of CNNBCBS in "Lisa's Wedding", but the scene was mistakenly animated with Kent Brockman and so Shearer rerecorded the dialogue in Brockman's voice.
