James L. Brooks is a famous writer for TV shows. Ned sees him in a dream sequence and talks to him. JLB: "Hi. I'm James L. Brooks." NED: "Hi. May I call you Jim?" JLB: "James L. Brooks is fine." James offers Ned a sponge cake with brandy icing to which Ned screams No! He also asks if Ned like football (then laughs as he tells Ned that LA has no team).
