Gomer Pyle is a television character in Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C..

History

When Marge asked Homer to throw away the old TV Guide's he didn't want to and started to read from an issue. He read about an episode of Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. where Gomer upsets Sergeant Carter and he started to remember the episode.[1]

Mr. Burns called Gomer Pyle's heavenly singing voice the Eight Wonder of the World.[2]

After Abraham Simpson kissed Philip Hefflin, Abe told Philip that he was sorry as he was as straight as Gomer Pyle.[3]

Behind the Laughter

  • Gomer Pyle first appeared in The Andy Griffith Show, appearing in 23 episodes between 1962 and 1964, before getting a spin-off (Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.) which lasted five seasons, producing 150 episodes.
  • The synopsis "Gomer upsets Sergeant Carter" could describe every episode of the series.
