History
Bart once gave Marge a book called "Chicken Soup for the Loser", stating it gave Bill Buckner the courage to open a chain of laundromats.
Behind the Laughter
Bill Buckner was a first baseman for several Major League Baseball teams from 1969-1990. Bill Buckner is well known for his miscue in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series. The Boston Red Sox were winning the series 3-2 and were one game away from winning their first World Series championship since 1908. A ball was hit toward him, but went under his legs. The tying run scored after this play and the winning run would later score in extra innings to win the game, and eventually the World Series for the New York Mets.
