Thomas E. Dewey was the 47th Governor of New York. In 1944 and 1948, he was the Republican candidate for President, but lost both times.
Plot
When Lisa and Homer are watching a historical documentary they make a bet on who will win the 1948 U.S. Presidential election. Homer makes the mistake of believing the polls that predicted victory for Governor Dewey but he lost to Harry S. Truman so Lisa wins the bet and she gets to choose the activity for Daddy-Daughter Day. Her activity is taking part in building homes for Habitat for Humanity alongside former U.S. Presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and George H. W. Bush.
