Clarisse Drummond is an ACLU-appointed liberal lawyer from New York.
History[edit]
She was defending Lisa Simpson in the "God vs. Lisa Simpson" court trial. She got annoyed at the tactics that the prosecution, Wallace Brady, was using to win over the jury. She eventually won the case for Lisa when she asked Ned Flanders if he thought that Homer couldn't be related to apes in any way.
Behind the Laughter[edit]
The name is a reference to Clarence Darrow, the ACLA lawyer who defended John Scopes, high school science teacher accused of violating Tennessee's law against teaching evolution in public schools in the 1925 Scopes Monkey Trial which was the inspiration for the episode.
