Bill Cosby is a comedian, author and TV show host.

History

When a yo-yo craze hit Springfield Elementary School, Bart proved to be very good at yo-yo tricks. Homer told Marge that soon he would be able to quit his job and "live off the boy", but Marge challenged him to name one person who had gotten rich by doing yo-yo tricks. After considering Cosby, Donald Trump and Arnold Palmer, Homer realized to his chagrin that there wasn't any such person.[1]

Bill Cosby hosted the TV program Kids Say the Darnedest Things, where he used the kids' remarks as a springboard to doing his own standup comedy routines.[2] Cosby also had his own sitcom, The Cosby Show, on which Bleeding Gums Murphy made a guest appearance.[3]

Cosby and his family later auditioned to appear in The 1895 Challenge, a reality show where the cast would live as though the year was 1895. However, they lost out to the Simpson family.[4]

Bill Cosby is also the author of the book Fatherhood, a copy of which was given to Homer by the National Fatherhood Institute.[5] The same book is seen burning in a fireplace later on.[6]

Behind the Laughter

Cosby's own TV show, The Cosby Show, was, for a few years, a competitor to The Simpsons.
