With that money they purchased a new TV and were able to bond over that, so indirectly he was indeed able to help them. Later in "The Call of the Simpsons", Dr. Monroe is one of the scientists who studies Homer to figure out if he is indeed the missing link. In the end their findings were inconclusive. Monroe also hosts his own morning radio show on KBBL where he takes calls from listeners and tries to help them with their problems.

Supposed Death

Many people in Springfield also beleive him to be dead because several things have been named after him; Marvin Monroe Memorial Hospital, and a school gym was named after him. His grave is shown in "Alone Again, Natura-Diddly" and in The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular he along with Bleeding Gums Murphy is said to have died over the past year. However several years later he spontaniously appears in "Diatribe of a Mad Housewife" at Marge's book signing. Marge, shocked to see him, explains how she thought he was dead. Dr. Monroe explains that he "has been very sick". Apparently he has been so sick that almost everyone in town beleived him to be dead, it is unknown who built the grave, or why with no body.
