Calvin is the adopted son of Blythe.
History
After Grampa and Blythe started dating, Grampa became a father figure for Calvin. Grampa treated him better than he had treated Homer, taking an interest in Calvin's weird hobbies. One of Calvin's hobbies was taxidermy, which Homer found weird. When Homer had an allergic reaction to a wood polish that Marge had used around the house, Homer ended up staying in Calvin's room until the polish had dissipated. During his stay, Homer struck up a rivalry with Calvin due to the fact Grampa treated Calvin better than he treated Homer. This led to a fight between the two of them, and a prank war broke out. During this time, Homer was also made to take Calvin to his taxidermy classes.
When Homer was mock imitating Calvin in the mirror, Grampa mistook Homer for Calvin, due to the eye drops he was using making him partially blind. Homer then realized how much Grampa really cared about Calvin and became depressed as his father never treated him that way. When Calvin realized that was why Homer was reacting the way he was, Calvin softened towards Homer and told him that Grampa must love him too. Homer then dressed Calvin up as him to show Calvin how Grampa reacted towards him. After Grampa got mad at Calvin, thinking he was Homer, for no reason, Calvin understood. He then asked Homer if he had told Grampa how Grampa made him feel, and suggested that Homer try a way other than shoving him in an awful retirement home.
Homer took Calvin's advice to heart and made an exhibit for the taxidermy convention out of shells with googly eyes glued to them. Grampa was initially mad at Homer, but softened up when he was told to really look at what Homer had made.
Later, Blythe broke up with Grampa and found a new man, who took Calvin to Africa to study animals.
