Character Information
|
Lucy McGillicuddy Ricardo Carmichael is a fictional television character.
History
Marge was in hospital with a broken leg, and Lisa became exhausted from doing all the housework because Bart and Homer refused to help. Then, adding insult to injury, Bart and Homer watched I Love Lucy on TV with the volume turned up so loud that Lisa was unable to sleep. She tried to block the sound by putting her mattress against the door, but without success as she could still hear the dialogue from a scene where Ricky was slapping Lucy while Fred commented on it.
At this, the ghost of Lucy McGillicuddy Ricardo Carmichael appeared and said she had come to help Lisa get revenge on Bart and Homer. Lucy's ghost said they needed "a scheme to teach those slobs a lesson". Lisa readily agreed and eagerly carried out the scheme, which turned out to be mixing oatmeal and green poster paint together and then putting splotches of the mixture on Bart and Homer while they were asleep, thus tricking them into thinking they had leprosy.
Behind the Laughter
Lucy's surnames are a pastiche of characters whom Lucille Ball portrayed:
- On I Love Lucy and The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, McGillicuddy was Lucy's character's maiden name and Ricardo was her married name.
- Lucy's character's last name was Carmichael on The Lucy Show.
- After telling Lisa her name, Ghost Lucy says, "And I think there's some more", an offhand reference to Lucy Barker from Life with Lucy, thus accounting for all of Ball's sitcom characters.
