Character Information
|
Dionysus is one of the deities in Greek mythology, the god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of ritual madness and ecstasy.
History
Dionysus hangs out in Olympus with Zeus and Poseidon. When Odysseus defeated the city of Troy and refused to sacrifice a lamb to the gods, Zeus announced he was going to "teach that mortal to trifle with the gods". Before he could do anything, however, Dionysus impulsively said "I got it", grabbed one of Zeus's lightning bolts, and hurled it to earth. Zeus then became angry with Dionysus because he had just destroyed Atlantis. Dionysus complained that Zeus used to be fun: "Where's the Zeus who used to turn into a cow and pick up chicks?" Zeus sharply replied, "He grew up", then commanded Poseidon to take care of Odysseus.
