Debra Jo Smallwood is a former Miss American Girl. During her reign as Miss American Girl, she made some remarks at the United Nations for which she repeatedly apologized for the rest of her reign.
History
Homer watched the Miss American Girl pageant on TV the year after Smallwood won. After the five finalists were announced, Smallwood (the then-currently reigning queen) came on stage to present the crown to the next winner. After she got to the stage, she said, "Tonight, my reign as Miss American Girl comes to an end, and I'd like to apologize one last time for my unfortunate remarks at the United Nations."
