Lisa said to Bart that she thought he needed Skinner as everybody needs a nemesis. Sherlock Holmes had his Dr. Moriarty, Mountain Dew has its Mellow Yellow and even Maggie has that baby with the one eyebrow.[1]
When Homer was fat Marge told Lisa that Homer can be surprisingly sensitive, and asked if she remembered when Marge giggled at his Sherlock Holmes hat. Homer had sulked for a week and then closed his detective agency.[2]
After Maude died Homer asked Ned why should Maude not be dating in Heaven, as the place is full of eligible bachelors, like John Wayne, Tupac Shakur, and Sherlock Holmes.
