Telemachus is the son of Odysseus and Penelope.

After Odysseus was gone for many years (fighting in the Trojan War and having his return delayed by Zeus and Poseidon), Telemachus suggested to his mother that she choose a new husband from the suitors who were hanging about the house. The idea backfired on him, however, when one of the suitors (Discus Stu) was more interested in Telemachus than in his mother.
