Bode Wright is a youth minister and reverend in Springfield.
History[edit]
Bode Wright originally came from Traverse City, Michigan. Whilst there, Bode worked at the Blessed Buy Megachurch. When he was 19, he burned a Bible to make a point, which got him fired.[1]
After reading an ad on Christlist, which Helen Lovejoy posted, Bode moved to Springfield where he became the new youth minister for the church, against Reverend Lovejoy's wishes. Bode annoyed Reverend Lovejoy because he was popular, in particular with his wife. This led to a feud between the two of them, with Lovejoy being petty towards Bode and putting Bode down frequently.
During a church sermon, Reverend Lovejoy lost his voice. Michael, a member of the church choir, decided to let Bode take over the sermon. Bode became very popular and people started coming back to the church to listen to him. After his sermon, the congregation went to A Batter Place where Bode again proved popular with them. Lisa also struck up a friendship with him as Bode also liked jazz and science. Eventually, Lovejoy was removed as the reverend and Bode Wright took over his duties. Meanwhile, the Lovejoys decided to go to Michigan to dig up dirt on Bode.
Lisa went to visit Bode so they could meditate together. Lisa told Bode that he had inspired a religious revival in Springfield, with even Snake Jailbird going to Bode to repent for his crimes. Meanwhile, in Michigan, Reverend Lovejoy dug up some dirt on Bode.[2]
With Bode as the reverend, church became very popular again. However, his way of preaching about religion and acceptance of everyone annoyed Ned, who thought church should only be for Christians. This led to a feud between Ned and Bode. Meanwhile, Homer struck up a friendship with Bode, with the two of them going to Moe's Tavern where Homer told Bode about all his sins.
The feud between Ned and Bode led to a face-off, with each of them quoting Bible verses to each other, with Ned arguing on the side of Christians-only, and Bode on the side of acceptance of everyone. Bode won the face-off, with Ned passing out. Later, during Aloha Sunday at the church, Reverend Lovejoy returned after finding out that Bode had burned a Bible. This led to the town turning on him during a meeting at the Town Hall. Bode decided he had to leave Springfield and said goodbye to everyone. The Simpson family then invited Bode to dinner at their house before he left town forever.[1]
