Edward Christian is the assistant vice president of finance distribution at Polystar Pictures.

History[edit]

Edward Christian introduced the film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington at the test screening at the Aztec Theater in Springfield and took questions. He also handed out cards to get the opinions of the viewers on the film so they knew what to change about it, based on their suggestions. When the film ended, he, Mel Gibson, and the other executives flew back to Hollywood. On the plane, Mel read the feedback and found that Homer hated the film. Edward Christian told Mel that Homer was obviously a nut, but Mel decided to go and visit Homer anyway.

After Mel Gibson and Homer finished remaking the ending of the film, Edward and the other executives hated it. Christian was confused because Mel Gibson chopped off the President's head. Christian said that the film was going to be the studio's prestige picture, and that they had already bought five Golden Globe awards. Edward Christian then called the film worse than Godfather III. Christian then apologized before he tried to burn the film. Mel then stole the film reel off him and ran off with it, leaving the executives to give chase.

During the chase, Mel Gibson threw a dummy of him at the executives' car. Since Edward was driving, he thought that he had killed Mel Gibson, and came up with the excuse that Gibson pulled a knife on him. When the executives realized it was a dummy, they continued the chase. At the end of the chase, Mel Gibson and Homer were mooning the executives. Whilst Mel jumped out of the way, Homer got hit by the car.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Edward Christian is named after two of Mel Gibson's children; Edward and Christian (b. 1982).
