Obadiah Wilmington was a police cheif in Springfield.
History
In 1889 had the lazy police chief Obadiah Wilmington his authority challenged by Ambrose Rollins. They decided at then person whoever could hold their breath the longest would be the police chief in Springfield. Wilmington won with exactly seven minutes. To protect the power was a new law added in the town charter with the same rule as they had. After Homer broke his recoed was he the new cheif of police.
