An unnamed realty agent works for Stinking Fish Realty. When Homer and Marge were looking for a house while Marge was pregnant with Lisa, he showed them several houses in Springfield.

History[edit]

When the Realty Agent first met the Simpsons, he was dubious about the chances of getting them into a house. The only houses in their price range, he told them, were in a neighborhood he described as "colorfully referred to as 'The Rat's Nest'". True to that statement, the first house he showed the Simpsons was in a run-down and violent neighborhood where gunfire was audible in the background.

The agent tended to gloss over the negative qualities of the houses he showed. For starters, the house in the violent neighborhood was clearly an active crime scene: There were police cars pulled up in front of the house; inside, police officers were investigating and taking pictures; and there was a body-shaped chalk outline on the floor. The agent described the house as having "just come on the market". There was also graffiti, still dripping wet, in blood-red letters reading "I'LL BE BACK". When Marge saw the graffiti and gasped, the agent quickly moved to stand in front of it and grinned, attempting to mollify Marge.

Later, he showed them a house that was in good condition and located in a much nicer neighborhood, but he had his face covered with a handkerchief while he talked about positive features of the house such as track lighting and hardwood floors. Marge noticed a stench, became suspicious and opened the drapes to reveal that the house was located next door to a Rendering Plant. The agent again tried to make light of the situation: "Once you get used to the smell of melted hog fat, you'll wonder how you ever did without it." Marge was unimpressed and the Simpsons kept looking, even though Homer liked the smell.

In spite of these foibles, the agent did succeed in making a sale when he showed the Simpsons 742 Evergreen Terrace. The house was perfect for them, and, with some financial help from Grampa, affordable. Homer and Marge bought the house and 742 Evergreen Terrace became the Simpson family home.
