Belle, voiced by Tress MacNeille, an entrepreneuse and the proprietoress of a burlesque house in Springfield called "La Maison Derriere." She is 52 years old, and her family has been in Springfield for six generations. In the episode "Bart After Dark", Bart found himself working there as punishment for damaging Belle's property, and it soon transpired that the place was a frequent haunt of many of Springfield's men. Homer rescued it when an angry mob led by Marge, the Flanders, and Reverend Lovejoy threatened to raze it to the ground.
It is speculated that she herself was once a dancing girl when she was younger, since she's a good singer in "The Spring in Springfield".
Trivia
- During the scene where Marge asks Belle to close down the burlesque house, it appears that Belle is coming on to Marge. While they sit down, she pulls up her skirt to show off her fishnet stocking-clad legs and called Marge honey, sugar, and darlin'. Then she moves closer to an uncomfortable Marge's face and touch her hand. Notice she raised her eyebrows when Marge leaves.
