Thomas Edison was an American inventor, scientist, and businessman who developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb. After Lisa mentions for Homer that Thomas Edison invented the film projector as well as many other inventions Homer uses, Homer learns more about Edison and eventually idolises him. In his museum, The Edison Museum was Bart and Homer tried to smash the chair which was identical to Homer's invention. When they visited the museum discovered Homer that Edison idolises Leonardo da Vinci and failed to destroy the chair. On the car trip to the museum participated Edision as ghost in front of Homer where he tried to get him to not destroy the chair.
