The Chief is a patient in the New Bedlam Rest Home for the Emotionally Interesting who has been there since 1968.

History[edit]

He never speaks or moves a muscle. That was until Homer spoke to him. He replied and then lots of doctors rushed over to him. He said that the reason he doesn't speak was that no one reached out to him.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

He is based on the character Chief Bromden from the novel/film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest who pretended to be deaf and mute.
