He tells Homer that the end of the world is coming and that he should prepare for it and be better than everyone else as a result. He also told Homer to keep it a secret from everyone and invited Homer to join him and the other preppers.
Lloyd invited Homer into their retreat from the world for when the end of the world came. After Homer caused an EMP, he moved his entire family into the retreat for a while before he realized that they wouldn't be helping the others outside. Homer then makes a break for freedom with many of the supplies for the other people and Lloyd follows Homer with the other preppers. He and the others were shocked to find that society was normal.
