Sheldon Leavitt is the creator of the 1980s television show Thicker than Waters.
History
Homer becomes obsessed with Thicker than Waters, a sitcom created by Leavitt, and spends a lot of time trying to be an exemplary father like the one in the show. Bart does not like this, but after some hassle between father and son, they end up becoming friends. At this moment, Sheldon Leavitt is shown finishing a script, pretending to be the one that wrote the story between Bart and Homer.
Behind the Laughter
Sheldon Leavitt is a crossed reference to Sheldon Leonard and Ron Leavitt, both being important writers for known American sitcoms.
