Voiced by Harry Shearer, Dewey Largo, is the music teacher whom Lisa credited with proving that any piece of music could have the soul sucked out of it. He is very counter-creative and is a poor conductor.

History
Mr. Largo is the music teacher at Springfield Elementary School. He is one of the more uptight and mean teachers at the school. Largo teaches Lisa's band class where he often stifles her creativity. He only teaches simple, boring and unoriginal songs to the band causing Lisa to often cause outbursts in class (a la the opening credits). His actions also lead to the fact that he could possible be homosexual. In the episode "See Homer Run" while saving all the people in the massive car crash Homer pulls Largo out of the same car as Waylon Smithers. But Largo quickly claimed they were just car pooling. In "My Fair Laddy", Dewey Largo had to take over for Groundskeeper Willie for a short time while Willie was working at The Gilded Truffle. He turned out to be even worse at being groundskeeper than music teacher. Also in the episode "Homer's Paternity Coot" it is revealed that Largo was accepted to the Juilliard School of Music, but never got the letter as it was frozen atop Mount Springfield. His assumed rejection from this school could explain his eventual lack of passion for music.
Trivia
Largo Was Voted The Worst Ever Simpsons Character Created. In See Homer Run it was revealed he and Waylon Smithers were doing secret 'things', which could mean he is a homosexual. Also, in Eeny Teeny Maya Moe, he wants a sex change operation to look like Julie Newmar, but is accidentaly mixed with Moe's surgery file, which makes him smaller.
Name
His last name is also an Italian word for a slow, broad musical tempo, a possible reference to the fact that he can make any piece of music uninteresting.
