Thomas Edison was an American inventor, scientist, and businessman who developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb. After Lisa mentions for Homer that Thomas Edison invented the film projector as well as many other inventions Homer uses, Homer learns more about Edison and eventually idolises him. In his museum, The Edison Museum was Bart and Homer tried to smash the chair which was identical to Homer's invention.
