Winter 2014 is the sixty-ninth content update for The Simpsons: Tapped Out. It started on December 3, 2014 and ended on January 13, 2015. It was the third Christmas-themed update for the game.

The Toy Workshop is where characters complete quests and Tunnel tasks to earn Presents in Part 1.

Feds

The ability to release Feds into other Springfields was unlocked during Pixie Plight. In a friend's town, a button appeared in the top-right corner of the screen, offering a chance to send 3 Feds to their town, using up your daily actions.

After tapping on a Fed, it sprouted Cash, XP, Friend Points and Presents, and also the text "Bye Bye Federal Agent Called by [player name]" appeared. After finding all Feds a system message appears reading: "All Feds have been driven away, your town is safe. For now..." Whenever Feds were sent into your Springfield, a device notification was pushed, reading: "Your friends have sent the Feds to your Springfield. Thwart them to earn some Presents!"

The max number of Feds in a town at the same time is 20.

Santa's Daily Tasks

Santa's Daily Tasks are a feature in Part 1. They are mini-quests that when completed award you with two prizes and if completed within 24 hours of starting the first task, Presents. There are nineteen tunnels in total.

The tasks later on require the one previous to be completed, and the cash reward for which needs to be fully collected. For example, Task 3 needs Task 2 to be completed and the cash reward collected before it is unlocked in the Tunnel menu. Completing all tasks unlocks an "exclusive character", Zutroy. A new tunnel was unlocked every day at 8am GMT.

If an Elf Tunnel has multiple rewards, only the first one that the player didn't already own was obtained, with the other reward(s) going unobtainable in the event, unless made available for purchase in Part 2. Each Elf Tunnel also rewards the player with one extra Elf. Finishing an Elf Tunnel within 24 hours also rewarded a bonus 100. After completing all nineteen Elf Tunnels, Zutroy was unlocked.

Friends visits let you get even more Bells.

• Actions 1-30: 5 Elf Bells each
• Actions 31-60: 3 Elf Bells each
• Actions 61-90: 2 Elf Bells each
• Actions 91-120: 1 Elf Bells each

After 40 friends you won't get any Elf Bells, just Money, XP and FP, or a chance at donuts if you are at max FP level already.

If you tap your friends' Elf Cannon and Elf Tunnels you get DOUBLE Elf Bells! So it becomes:

• Actions 31-60: 6 Elf Bells each
• Actions 61-90: 4 Elf Bells each
• Actions 91-120: 2 Elf Bells each

You can only tap friends's cannons and tunnels if they started phase 2. While visiting a Friend's Springfield if one taps the Cannon Control Building they can check their Cannon's Level.

Old Gil sunk his life savings into these trees, so he'll stand here freezing until he sells 'em all. Oh thank heavens. I'll take one tree. Here ya go. Oh, this one's a beaut. • Santa's Village now gives 200 when placed instead of 85. It is also now treated as a premium building, although its earnings did not change.
• Kang has been added to the characters who have a "Drink at Moe's" task.
• Artie Ziff, Akira, and Giuseppe have been added to the Entrepreneur character group. Database is now a member of the Youngster and Brainiac character groups. Mr Teeny is now part of the Celebrity character group. Giuseppe has been added to the Senior group. George Washington is now a Celebrity and a Civil Servant. Princess Penelope is also a Civil Servant. The Barbarian is now a member of the Dimwit group. The Space Mutant has been added to the Glutton group. Uter, Greta Wolfcastle and Hugo are now part of the Youngster group.
• Santa Homer's 12h task to "Endure the Whiney Kids" now takes place at the Kwik-E-Mart rather than at the Try-N-Save.
• When built, Santa's Workshop now gives 50, Costington's gives 145, the Eggnog Bar gives 50, Helter Shelter gives 50, ClausCo 60, the Springfield Skating Rink gives 50, and the Springfield Mall 60. All are now marked as premium buildings with premium earnings.
• The Happy Little Elves Ride now rewards with 90 and 30.
• Mr. Costington and The Yes Guy now pay premium for their tasks.
• The code says that Santa Flanders and Ebenezer Burns tasks are now premium.
• KBBL Radio and the Moonbounce are now animated.
• Donut rewards following the earning of all Friend Points prizes have returned.
• The size of the Tunnel of Love in Krustyland has increased 2 squares in size.

December 5 update (12.2MB; "v4_12_XMAS2014_Patch1")

• A new task was added for Santa, to "Eat Milk and Cookies" for 4h at the Toy Workshop, with a reward of 2 Presents and 45.
• The Ice Palace and the questline "The Ice Princess" were deleted, as was "Santa's List Pt. 7".
• There appears to be some sort of Donut Promo on December 22 that ends on 27.
• A 1-part quest for the Destroyed Holiday Wheel has also been added which gives you a small bit of dialog between Krusty and Homer and requires you to place the item. Initially placing the wheel was not a requirement.

December 9 update (12.4MB; "v4_12_XMAS2014_Patch2")

• The Toy Workshop now shows the job that the characters that can work at it are doing in case they're not working there.
• The Rigellian Hut and the Little Black Box now gives Presents to friends that tap them.
• Requested donuts to speedup jobs for King Winter's jobs changed: "Go On A Date" and "Annoy Flanders" (requires 2 characters) doubled (it requested only the donuts for 1 character), "Explore King Winter's Cave" (requires 1 character) halved (it requested the donuts for 2 characters).
• Santa's jobs changed: "Eat A Santerrific Lunch" now requires Phase 1. "Get Drunk at Moe's" changed from temp to permanent, requires "Jingle Bell Wreck Pt. 11". "Deliver Presents" changed from temp to permanent, requires "Jingle Bell Wreck Pt. 15".
• Sponsored Church, Christmas Burns Manor, Christmas Compound, Christmas Wolfcastle's Mansion, Christmas Sanjay's House, Christmas Mansion Of Solid Gold, Christmas Crazy Cat House, Christmas Apu's Apartment, Christmas Wiggum Home now have sounds when tapped.
• The Kwik-E-Mart income has been removed from own town's Kwik-E-Mart, just to appear when you click on friend's Kwik-E-Mart. Scratch-Rs are still present.
• There is something referenced in the files to the Kwik-E-Mart with the event, it is unknown what it currently is.
• There originally were two requirements to begin the event and the main quest Jingle Bell Wreck: Reach level 6 and complete quest "myPad" which is a quest towards the beginning of the game. Now the only requirement to get the event quest and trigger the event is just to reach level 6. The "myPad" requirement has been removed.
• The icon for "Jingle Bell Wreck Pt. 15" which will show in the taskbook while it is active is now the Homer Santa head. It originally was just the Santa Head icon.
• There has also been a small, unnoticeable coding change made to activate the Feds aspect of the event.
• One of the tasks for Tunnel 8 has changed It used to be: "Have a Kook Check Out the Toy Workshop" and had a rush rate of 2. It now requires 3 characters of the Kook character group to complete the quest and has a rush rate of 6.
• For Tunnel 18, you no longer have to have reached Level 20 to complete that tunnel's tasks.
• The size of the panel for the "Winter 2014" section in the store was minimised to 1/3rd of its size, with a new design.
• A quest called "Santa's List Pt. 7" was created, requiring 19 (all) Tunnels of the Santa Tasks to be completed.

December 11 update (12.2MB; "v4_12_XMAS2014_Patch3")

• Ned can now do the task "Take The Boys Snowmobiling" before Rod and Todd have been unlocked, with two different, albeit hidden jobs; the rush cost for the task is now 18; and the time it takes has been changed from 16h to 10h. The glitch involving storing the Flanders House is still happening.
• There were minor script changes for Phase 2.

December 22 update (12.5MB; "v4_12_XMAS2014_Promos")

• Added a Gil promo.
• Re-added the Ice Palace and relative questline to the files.
• Added new questline, "Frankincense, Myrrh and Donuts".
• Re-added Giuseppe's Workshop, and added a new limited-time questline for him - "The Italian Grenadessance!".
• The Christmas skins now only have the option to purchase them in the Store if you have the building.
• Added the Part 2 questline.
• Removed references to Black Friday on Black Friday's items.
• Added Ice Walls to Walls category.
• The Elf-lectric Swatter is now called Elf Bottler.
• The Event Leaderboard has been added back.
• The Writers Building cash exploit was removed.
• The end date of Part 2 changed to January 18. The time for the Christmas Day mini-event changed from middlenight GMT to 8am GMT.
• Added the Façade Decorated Lard Lad Donuts. Lard Lad Donuts shows the Façade in Other Springfield.
• The Ice Palace changed to differ more from the Frozen one.

December 23 update (12.5MB; "v4_12_XMAS2014_Promos_Patch1")

• It fixed Zutroy not being gifted once Tunnel 19 is completed.
• It fixed the disappearance of the option to buy Donuts in the store for some people.
• The glitch with "Jingle Bell Wreck Pt. 14" not clearing from the taskbook was fixed.

December 25 update (12.5MB; "v4_12_XMAS2014_Promos_Patch3")

• Fixed crashes.
• Removed the Sideshow You minigame.

January 13 update (12.5MB; "v4_12_XMAS2014_Promos_Patch4")

• Final date to win or buy the event prizes – January 14 @ 17:00 pm GMT (extended 1 day).
• Limited-time, returning Festive decorations now available until January 18 @ 8:00 am GMT (extended 5 days).
• Phase 2 non-prize, limited-time items now available until January 18 @ 8:00 am GMT (extended 5 days).
• Ice Palace (Premium) is now available until January 18 @ 8:00 am GMT (extended 5 days).
• All items in the store only says Limited Time without any countdown.
• The countdown for the event still says 2014 instead of 2015.

January 14 App Store update (~40MB)

• Changed loading screen and app icon to normal.

January 14 in-game update (18.5MB/39.7MB/441.8MB; "v4_12_XMAS2014_Takedown")

• Removed event questlines and temporary tasks.
• Removed snow skins for buildings and decorations, the snow animation and event grass and river textures.
• Kwik-E-Marts earn income again.
• Sideshow You's balloon popping game is available again.
• One of Cletus' sounds which plays when he is tapped has changed from his "Huh?" sound (CLETUS_TAP3) to laughter (CLETUS_TAP6).
• Most of the character's holiday tasks are gone, but if you have the Nativity Scene, Lisa, Marge, Homer, and Bart still have their related 16 hour tasks. Bart also kept his "Eat Cafeteria Pudding" task, also 16 hours.
• The cannon still fires with the animation and sound. The Cannon Control Building kept the level which you achieved, and now it earns $90 and 10XP every 4 hours for "Cannon Cooling Down".
• The Toy Workshop, Cannon Control Building, and Elf Portal can now be placed in storage.
• Ice Princess Martin's Be Cool and Host an Ice Palace Play Date jobs got removed
• Red Brick walls are thinner and don't meet at corners
• The 3 buyable small islands can be bought any time. They got their Christmas features removed.
• Burns Fever Snowman and Homer Fever Snowman melt with the rest of the Snowmen, Snowcat and Snowdog.
• Activating town editing by keeping a finger on the screen for a short amount of time has been reactivated.
• An animation was added to the Krusty Burger Oil Rig.
• Zombie Cat lost the bowl on its head. In the Character collection screen it's still present.
• The Yes Guy is now permanent in the store.
