Springfield (Universal Studios)

Wikisimpsons - The Simpsons Wiki

A digital rendition of Springfield at Universal Studios Florida

Springfield is a The Simpsons-themed area located at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood. It consists of two rides, several carnival games, and restaurants, most of which are based on characters or locations from the series.

In October 2007, the Kwik-E-Mart merchandise shop opened both at Universal Studios Florida and Hollywood. The following year, the main attraction in the area, The Simpsons Ride, opened at both parks in mid-May 2008. The first major expansion that included more Simpson-based areas and restaurants took place in June 2013 at Universal Studios Florida, while the grand opening at Universal Studios Hollywood took place in May 2015.

The Simpsons Ride

The Simpsons Ride is a motion simulator attraction. Krusty invites guests to test his new ride at Krustyland. Sideshow Bob escapes from prison and plots revenge on Krusty and the Simpson family. Bob hijacks the ride and attempts to destroy Krustyland and kill the Simpsons. Riders are thrown into a frantic chase through the park, encountering various Simpsons characters and parodies of theme park attractions. The ride ends with a massive, chaotic climax before everything is narrowly saved—mostly by accident. Green tick.png

The queue line at Luigi's (only at Universal Studios Hollywood) includes five posters with the style of vintage Italian advertising posters.

The posters are parodies of real-life ones. These are:

(1) Luigi's Non-Glutinata, a parody of Buitoni's Pastina Glutinata poster from 1928.

(2) Italia Cosmopolia is based on Italia e' Cassis, a poster created in 2010 for the French town of Cassis, which is a sister town of the Italian Portofino.

(3) Film Bobliacci is a parody of Film Pagliacci, a poster of the 1936 film Pagliacci based on Ruggero Leoncavallo's opera of the same name.

(4) Gran Premio Springfield is based on Gran Premio San Remo. As seen on the original poster, the 1948 San Remo Grand Prix took place on 27 June 1948. At Luigi's, the date on the poster is changed to 24 March 1996, the date when "A Fish Called Selma" was originally aired. The episode's title is read below the word "Springfield".

(5) Krusty Kampari Springfield is a parody of Cordial Campari Milano, a 1921 poster created by Leonetto Cappiello for the iconic Italian liqueur brand Campari.
