For the titular character who first appeared in Cheers, see Frasier Crane.

Frasier was an American sitcom (1993-2004) which was a spin-off from Cheers. It revolved around the character Frasier Crane (played by Kelsey Grammer) and Niles Crane (played by David Hyde Pierce). Since Grammer plays the voice of Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons many references to Frasier on the show are often done in reference to Bob.

References to Frasier in The Simpsons[edit]

Picture Season Episode number Episode name Reference
5 208 "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" Jasper likes the idea that the jury discussion will not take long, because he heard that "the dog from Frasier is going to ride the dolphin on SeaQuest."
Cheers characters Frasier.png 6 114 "Fear of Flying" When Homer looks for a new bar, one of them is the bar from Cheers. One of the characters seen there is Frasier Crane.
Frasier Brother from Another Series.png 8 169 "Brother from Another Series" The episode guest stars David Hyde Pierce as Cecil Terwilliger, brother of Sideshow Bob (who is voiced by Kelsey Grammer). Pierce and Grammer also plays each others brothers, Frasier Crane and Niles Crane, on Frasier, which is referenced in this episode's title. Before the cut to Bob and Cecil drinking wine inside Cecil's apartment there is an intertitle card done in the style of Frasier. Later in the episode when Bart covers Cecil's eyes and asks "Guess who?", Cecil guesses "Maris". Maris was Nile's wife in Frasier, an unseen character.
10 216 "Homer to the Max" A story is described as "it started out with a simple vision of 'Titanic' meets 'Frasier'".
11 227 "Beyond Blunderdome" On a tour of celebrity homes, Marge pointed out the house owned by the dog from Frasier.
13 280 "The Bart Wants What It Wants" Rainier Wolfcastle lists off his other characters besides McBain including "I was a voice on the Frasier."
15 319 "Today I Am a Clown" The subplot involving Santa's Little Helper being neutered after an incident with his owner's neighbor's pet dog got her pregnant resembles a similar plotline in the sitcom Frasier (specifically, it's the episode The Unkindest Cut of All.). In fact, both neighbors in that episode even say to the family that owns the dog "Well, I'm glad you like them, because they're your problem now!".
19 408 "Funeral for a Fiend" The family lay-out in the popular series Frasier is repeated in this episode. Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce play brothers in both series, while John Mahoney plays their father. Judith Underdunk is not voiced by a Frasier cast member however (Simpsons regular Tress MacNeille voicing her instead), likely because actress Nancy Marchand, who played Frasier's mother on Cheers, had died several years before this episode was made.
21 463 "The Bob Next Door" Marge and Homer try to reassure Bart by naming people who sound like Sideshow Bob: Frasier on Cheers, Frasier on Frasier, and Lt. Commander Tom Dodge on Down Periscope -- all three of whom were played by Kelsey Grammer, who provides the voice of Sideshow Bob.
21 464 "Judge Me Tender" At the Springfield Pet Fair, a banner says "Meet the stuffed dog from 'Frasier'".
Frasier Bart's Birthday.png 36 769 "Bart's Birthday" During the closing credits The Simpsons appears in spoofs of well-known TV series finales, one of them being The Sopranos.
