In his earlier career Hauge was a contributor to ''National Lampoon'' and later wrote for ''Seinfeld'', ''In Living Colour'', ''The Ren & Stimpy Show'', and a short lived reincarnation of ''The Carol Burnett Show''. Hauge joined ''The Simpsons'' staff in the eighth season. He won an [[Emmy]] for writing "[[Homer's Phobia]]", which was his first episode.
