Season 22 is the twenty-second broadcast season of The Simpsons. It originally ran on Fox from September 26, 2010, with "Elementary School Musical", to May 22, 2011, with "The Ned-liest Catch". The season was mostly made up of production season NABF episodes, with seven rollover episodes from production season MABF also airing. Al Jean served as the showrunner for the season.

The season ended with a fan poll on thesimpsons.con to decide on the fate of the relationship between Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel, which was known as "Nedna", with the result being revealed in the season 23 premiere, "The Falcon and the D'ohman". The result of the poll was to have the characters get together.

November 28, 2010 Michael Polcino Kevin Curran NABF02 After a pigeon breaks its wing flying into the Simpson house, Bart looks after him until he recovers. However, Santa's Little Helper eats his new pet. Bart is taken to therapy where the Simpsons are told they need to get rid of the family dog. Guest starring: Danica Patrick as herself and Rachel Weisz as Dr. Thurston. 472 - 8 "The Fight Before Christmas" December 5, 2010 Bob Anderson and Matthew Schofield Dan Castellaneta and Deb Lacusta MABF22 The night before Christmas, Bart, Lisa, Marge, and Maggie have dreams. In Bart's dream, he boards the Polar Express to the North Pole, where he meets Santa Claus. In Lisa's dream, it is World War II and Marge is fighting on the front line, where she goes missing in action. In Marge's dream, Martha Stewart helps her turn the house into the ultimate festive grotto. Finally, in Maggie's dream, the family are puppets and are visited by Moe and his new girlfriend, Katy Perry. However, Moe struggles with the new customers thinking that he is gay. Meanwhile, Principal Skinner uses Bart to get closer to dating a substitute music teacher after finding out that he is dating her daughter. Meanwhile, Marge discovers her first gray hairs and surprises everyone by fully embracing the new hair color. 478 - 14 "Angry Dad: The Movie" February 20, 2011 Matthew Nastuk John Frink NABF07 Bart's cartoon Angry Dad gets turned into a movie starring Homer as the voice of Angry Dad, which becomes a huge critical success. But when it starts to win awards, Homer claims them instead of Bart, leading to Bart figuring out a way to shut Homer out. When she synthesizes a drug out of this, the drug gets picked up by a major pharmaceuticals company and distributed to the population. However, it has a major negative side effect. Guest starring: Werner Herzog as Walther Hotenhoffer and Kevin Michael Richardson as the Retirement Castle orderly. 480 - 16 "A Midsummer's Nice Dreams" March 13, 2011 Steven Dean Moore Dan Castellaneta and Deb Lacusta NABF09 Cheech and Chong arrive in Springfield for their reunion tour, but when Chong refuses to perform a joke, Homer steps in and becomes the new "Chong", going on tour as "Cheech and Chunk". Meanwhile, Chong recruits Seymour Skinner to form "Teach and Chong". Meanwhile, Marge helps the Crazy Cat Lady change her hoarder ways, but in the process turns into a hoarder herself. Over the course of the lessons, Homer becomes scared of Bart. Marge tries to track down the now-missing Dr. Zander to get him to put things right again. One of these is for "The Great Milk Can Escape," which Lisa accidentally reveals to Cregg Demon, a rival magician. But when other rival magicians attempt to take out Cregg, Lisa comes to his rescue. Marge has her reservations about the couple's marriage, so Fat Tony invites Homer and Marge to a weekend getaway at his summer home. Meanwhile, Bart discovers a special talent that allows him to detect the location of truffles by smell, so he and Lisa team up to collect them. Guest starring: Joe Mantegna as Fat Tony. 484 - 20 "Homer Scissorhands" May 8, 2011 Mark Kirkland Peter Gaffney and Steve Viksten NABF13 After Homer discovers a talent for styling hair, he becomes Springfield's most in-demand hair stylist. But having to listen to women's problems and gossip all day long leads Homer to believe his gift may actually be a curse. Meanwhile, Milhouse professes his love for Lisa, only to have his heart broken. Milhouse then catches the eye of popular fifth-grader Taffy, causing Lisa to become jealous. Guest starring: Kristen Schaal as Taffy. 485 - 21 "500 Keys" May 15, 2011 Bob Anderson John Frink NABF14 Lisa tries to return a key to Springfield Elementary, but she stumbles upon an abandoned classroom in the basement. Trying to investigate this leads to more questions arising around the mystery of Bus 23, a school bus that never returned from a school trip. Lisa, Homer, and Bart team up to solve the mystery. Meanwhile, Marge is on a continuous search for her noisy anniversary present. Guest starring: Albert Brooks as Hank Scorpio. 486 - 22 "The Ned-liest Catch" May 22, 2011 Chuck Sheetz Jeff Westbrook NABF15 Feeling guilty for getting Mrs. Krabappel suspended after one of his school pranks, Bart helps her escape detention, and Ned Flanders winds up saving her life in the process. When Edna and Ned start dating, he is surprised to learn she's been with many of Springfield's men, including Homer and Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer.
