The first content update, known as the Level 21 content update, for The Simpsons: Tapped Out was released on September 21, 2012, and came nearly a month after the game's re-launch on the App Store.

Level 21 was introduced, a long-awaited level for players who had finished Level 20 months before. The Muntz House was unlocked with Level 21, and unlocked Nelson. Springfield Library was added as a Level 12 building, and unlocked Martin when built. Also two new premium items were added, the School Bus, unlocking Otto, and the Springfield Observatory. Several new decorations were added as well.

The update was 40.3 MB.

Darn it, that was a trick! You're supposed to say "no." Sorry, son. But reverse psychology only works on a normal, healthy human brain. Not what I got. Now, off you go! The player receives "Any Given Weekday" which is to "Make Bart Go To School". It takes 6 hours. The player receives total 375 and 65 in reward.

Nerds Gone Wild

After tapping on Martin's exclamation mark Hey, Bart! How are you, my schoolyard chum? I'm having a bad day. And I would REALLY appreciate it if you didn't try to cheer me up. Perhaps I can cheer you up! Okay, fine. Just don't play an original musical composition. That's all I ask. Let me play you a piece I composed, where in I liken New Springfield to John Winthrop's City Upon a Hill! Can I at least request you don't whip out some sissy old-timey instrument? The player receives "Any Given Weekday" which is to "Make Martin Play The Lute". It takes 45 seconds. The player receives total 13 and 11 in reward.

Nelson

After tapping on Martin's exclamation mark So what are your thoughts on my song? This is why the schoolyard ecosystem requires bullies! Nerd behavior must be kept in check! This isn't the 1990's anymore! You can't bully in a post-Lady Gaga-said-one-time-that-bullying-isn't-okay world! You will serve detention until the end of the school year! After tapping on Nelson's exclamation mark Do your worst, Skinner. I'm not afraid of you. Nor, if I'm being completely honest, should you be. Which is why I'm turning you over to the only man in town with a more demeaning job than mine. Oh, no. You don't mean... He does! He does mean! You belong to Willie now! The player receives "Nelson's Educational Experience Pt. 1" which is to "Make Nelson Do Janitoral Work". It takes 12 hours. The player receives total 520 and 110 in reward.

Sorry, but ol' Willie's not stupid enough to let you use that thing! You're gonna clean two months worth of trash out of the cafeteria kitchen! Smell Ya Later

After tapping on Nelson's exclamation mark I've trashed a lot of stuff today. But there's one kind of pollution I haven't covered yet -- noise pollution! The player receives "I'm a Superstar!". Which is to "Make Nelson Play the Guitar". It takes 8 hours. The player receives total 375 and 80 in reward.

Dark Humor

After tapping on Nelson's exclamation mark Such a lousy week! I hate school! At least you're not getting beaten up three times a day! My house smells like coleslaw! Ah, the whining call of the Common Nerd. Such sweet, sweet music. The player receives "Dark Humor". Which is to "Make Nelson Laugh at Other's Misfortune". It takes 24 hours. Kearney

A Victimless Crime

After Purchased After tapping on Kearney's exclamation mark Hey, Simpson! Gimme your lunch money or I'll break every bone in your body! Sorry, I spent all my cash on houses and decorations. But I'm hungry... and mean. Maybe you and your friend could steal me some food from the Kwik-E-Mart. But... stealing is stealing! Like it says in the Bible: "it's only stealing if you get caught." The player then receives "A Victimless Crime", which is to "Make Bart Shoplift from the Kwik-E-Mart" and "Make Milhouse Shoplift from the Kwik-E-Mart". The tasks takes 30 minutes and set on its own, the player receives total 140 and 20 in reward. The player receives 100 and 10 as the reward for the quest.

Bullies On Parade

After tapping on Kearney's exclamation mark Nelson! How come you're spending so much extra time at school? Have you gone soft? Sadly, even if I WANTED to go soft, I've forgotten how. It's the price of bully-dom. Good! Let's get down to business! Since you've already got detention into the next millenium, there's no point in me getting my hands dirty. I'll create a diversion while you beat some lunch money out of geeks! The player then receives "Bullies On Parade", which is to "Make Kearney Dance a Jig" and "Make Nelson Shake Down Kids For Lunch Money". Hail To The Bus Driver

After tapping on Otto's exclamation mark Hey, Otto! Welcome back to Springfield. Thanks, Lisa. I was talking to Skinner, and I can't get my old job back because the school bus is wrecked. So you think you can fix it? I don't know, but I can definitely try over and over again! The player then receives "Hail To The Bus Driver", which is to "Make Otto Work on the Bus". The Broken Axe

The Rockstar

After tapping on Otto's exclamation mark Hey Bart dude! Hey Otto, what have you been up to? Check out these sweet new strings. The player then receives "The Rockstar", which is to "Make Otto Jam on the Guitar". The task takes 4 hours and set on its own, the player receives 260 and 70 in reward. I can lay around all day, play guitar, and still get money. I love this new Springfield! The player receives 100 and 10 as the reward for the quest, completing the "Otto" quest hexalogy.
