It follows Gru, a former supervillain who becomes a father to three adopted daughters, and the Minions, small yellow creatures who serve him and have a long history of assisting various villains. It has expanded into feature films, short films, television specials, video games, and merchandise, becoming one of the most successful animated franchises in film history.
Among its most notable installments are Despicable Me (2010), which introduced Gru and the Minions, Despicable Me 2 (2013), Despicable Me 3 (2017), and Despicable Me 4 (2024). The franchise also includes the spin-off films Minions (2015) and Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022), which explore the origins and adventures of the Minions before and during their association with Gru. Other prominent entries include the short films Home Makeover (2010), Banana (2010), and Mower Minions (2016), which expand the franchise through stories centered on its characters.
