Child's Play
Child's Play is an American horror series created by Don Mancini, beginning with the film Child's Play, released in 1988. The franchise follows Chucky, a serial killer who transfers his soul into a Good Guy doll through a voodoo ritual, allowing him to continue his crimes in a toy's body. The series combines slasher horror with elements of black comedy and explores themes of possession, revenge, and the relationship between toys and childhood. It has expanded into films, a television series, comic books, and video games, becoming a prominent franchise in the horror genre.
Among its most notable installments are Child's Play 2 (1990), Child's Play 3 (1991), Bride of Chucky (1998), and Seed of Chucky (2004), which introduced elements of comedy into the series. Other prominent entries include Curse of Chucky (2013), Cult of Chucky (2017), and the television series Chucky, which premiered in 2021. The franchise also inspired a 2019 film reboot that introduced a new version of the character.
