Friday the 13th is an American horror film series created by Victor Miller and directed by Sean S. Cunningham in its original installment, released in 1980. The franchise follows a series of murders associated with Camp Crystal Lake, primarily committed by Jason Voorhees, a masked killer known for his hockey mask and machete. It explores themes of revenge, survival, and the consequences of past tragedies. The franchise has expanded into numerous films, a television series, novels, comic books, and video games, becoming one of the most recognizable properties in the slasher horror genre.

Among its most notable installments is Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981), which introduced Jason Voorhees as the primary killer, followed by Friday the 13th Part III (1982), which introduced his iconic hockey mask. Other prominent entries include Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), Jason Lives (1986), Jason Takes Manhattan (1989), Jason X (2001), and Freddy vs. Jason (2003), a crossover with the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
