Season 21 is the twenty-first broadcast season of The Simpsons. It originally ran on Fox from September 27, 2009, with "Homer the Whopper", to May 23, 2010, with "Judge Me Tender". The season was mostly made up of production season MABF episodes, with eight rollover episodes from production season LABF also airing. Al Jean served as the showrunner for the season.

In 2009, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the premiere of The Simpsons, Fox announced a year-long celebration of the show titled "Best. 20 Years. Ever". It ran from January 14, 2009 to January 14, 2010 and it included the documentary The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special – In 3-D! On Ice!.
