Synopsis[edit]

The Springfield Shopper presents several facts that could be true, tall tales, or lurid lore.

Facts, tales, and lore[edit]

  • Holiday Santa B. Gumble delights Christmas crowds every year by burping the music to The Little Drummer Boy. His pitch-perfect range is 4 octaves.
  • Dog that looks like Abraham Lincoln — submitted by Bart Simpson.
  • Frozen in Time - A special cryogenic process has preserved the only existing copy of "Radioactive Man #4" in mint condition. Upkeep and maintenance of the chamber costs $2,000 a week!
  • Runaway Luck - Local nerd Milhouse Van Houten has the unfortunate record of being hospitalized 7 times after being run down by wayward wheelbarrows, and he didn't see any of them coming!
  • Quite an Extended Family - Mayor Diamond Joe Quimby, creator of Take Your Niece to Lunch Day, hasn't missed a single lunch date since the special day's inception 15 years ago, yet he hasn't brought the same niece twice!
  • There are no natural ingredients in a Squishee, not even water.
  • Amazing Likeness! - Twin spinsters Selma and Patti Bouvier have created a life-size replica of TV heart-throb McGyver out of toe nail clippings and used hair removal wax.
  • Springfield Elementary bus driver Otto Mann has had his driver's licence suspended 45 times and has waited in line at the DMV for a total of 14,012 hours!
  • Tavern owner and amateur bug collector Moe Szyslak has the largest collection of cockroaches in the tri-state area with the most varied of species, and he found them all while at work!
  • Care Giver Keeps on Giving! - Physician Dr. Nick Riviera holds the record for the most liver transplants — 120 in a single week! The next highest is Dr. Julius Hibbert, who holds the record for the most successful liver transplants in a single week — 2.
  • Talk About Your Oxymorons! - Provincial eccentric Homer J. Simpson triumphed over all contenders during a recent "Stuff Your Gills" competition at The Frying Dutchman restaurant by stuffing 10 jumbo shrimp into his mouth without swallowing or needing the assistance of paramedics.
  • Rolling Wonder - Local autocrat Nelson Muntz collects wheelbarrows and won't tell anyone why! Currently he owns 10, but he once had as many as 17!
