The Mixed-Up Catchphrases Zone is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2001.
Synopsis[edit]
- Rod Serling presents The Mixed-Up Catchphrases Zone, where all of the people of Springfield swap catchphrases, with Bart being the only one who notices anything is different.
Plot[edit]
At 742 Evergreen Terrace, Rod Serling presents Bart, who is asleep. He asks if Bart is still dreaming or if he's about to enter The Mixed-Up Catchphrases Zone. When Bart wakes up and goes downstairs for breakfast, Marge exclaims "Aye carumba," because he's late getting up for school. Lisa is eating pancakes, and says "mmm... pancakes." Bart is confused because he's the one who says "aye carumba," but Marge tells him "don't have a cow, man" and tells him to get dressed. On the way to school, Ned Flanders speaks with Professor Frink's mannerisms, and Frink rides past them on a rocket bicycle, saying "hi-diddly-ho, neighborinos!" Bart and Lisa pass a car crash involving Mr. Burns and Krusty the Clown. Mr. Burns says "hey, hey, kids!" and Krusty says "excellent." At this point, Bart becomes freaked out and decides to run back home. As he goes past the Kwik-E-Mart, Nelson asks Bart if he wants some jerky before saying "Thank you, come again!" and Apu laughs at Bart with Nelson's usual laugh. Bart gets back home again, where Marge tells him off for trying to skip school, telling him that if he thinks he's going to stay home, he can "eat my shorts." Maggie then says that people might remember her from such baby activities as "Peek-A-Boo" and "spitting up strained carrots." Comic Book Guy then barks, and Santa's Little Helper says that the comic is the "worst premise, ever!"
