Ralph the Haiku Genius is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2001.
Synopsis[edit]
- Fern, a substitute art teacher, takes over Lisa's class and discovers that Ralph speaks only in haikus.
Plot[edit]
Fern takes over for Miss Hoover as a substitute art teacher and tells the class that they'll be making pinatas. Fern tells Ralph that Miss Hoover said that he'd need some special art supplies and gives him safety paste, a pencil, and a ruler. When Ralph responds to her, Fern realizes that his response is a haiku. She takes Ralph to see Principal Skinner and tells him that Ralph is a genius.
One month later, Ralph is a guest on Krusty's Poetry Korner to talk about his new book, My Cat Hates Showers, and Krusty refers to Ralph as the most exciting American poet since Jack Kerouac. Later, Fern tells Ralph that she has to leave him because she found a child in Shelbyville who speaks only in limericks. Ralph responds by telling her that her hat is funny, his movie offer fell through, and cat food tastes like fish.
