Synopsis[edit]
- Homer has to take an elevator with Ned, until the cable snaps.
At the tax office, Homer is waiting for an elevator when Ned comes along. Homer wishes the elevator would hurry up and arrive before Flanders gets there, but the elevator arrives too late. In the elevator, Ned tells Homer that it makes him smile that his hard-earned money goes to pay the salaries of firemen, policemen, and building inspectors. The elevator cable then snaps and it starts plummeting. Homer doesn't realize it's falling and carries on ranting about taxes while Ned panics. Ned manages to climb out of the hatch on the roof of the elevator and tries to bring Homer up too. Homer's foot hits the emergency button in the elevator, which deploys an airbag, but Homer then gets stuck in the hatch. Later, the elevator is extracted from the building using a crane as Homer thanks the firemen, policemen, and building inspectors. The man in charge of extracting Homer tells Mayor Quimby that the extraction would cost $3,000, and Quimby says he'll just raise taxes again to pay for it.
