Senior Volun-Teacher Week is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2000.

Synopsis[edit]

The seniors of Springfield volunteer at Springfield Elementary School.

Plot[edit]

For Senior Volun-Teacher Week at Springfield Elementary School, Grampa is teaching Lisa's class. He tells the class that Canada is where the Queen of England walks her dogs and that New York was originally just York, and Teddy Roosevelt tacked on the "New" when he tried to sell the place back to the Indians. Lisa goes to Miss Hoover to complain about Grampa's teaching. Miss Hoover tells Lisa that the smart children will learn proper history in college, but the rest of the children will work at fast food restaurants or start Internet companies, so it doesn't matter to them.

Lisa goes to Principal Skinner to complain, but he tells Lisa that the Senior Volun-Teacher program has been a great boon to the community, as it keeps seniors off the streets. Skinner then tells her that the only two rules that the school curriculum have are to never mention God and to never mention Lake Titicaca. Lisa complains that school should be about the search for truth and wisdom, but Skinner tells her that any day the school is still standing and Bart isn't in prison is a good day. He then tells her that it could be worse.

Meanwhile, the Fourth Grade is in gym class, taught by Jasper. Jasper tries to lift weights, but gets seriously injured in the process, shocking the whole class.
