The Monty Burns Late Night Show is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2001.
Synopsis[edit]
- Due to his popularity declining, Mr. Burns decides to host The Night Late Tonight Show to regain it.
Plot[edit]
Waylon Smithers shows Mr. Burns a graph of his popularity, showing that it took a dive after a documentary about a safari hunt Burns tried to do at the zoo was released. Smithers tells Burns that he's only a month or two away from a public lynching, and Burns realizes that bribery and intimidation tactics no longer work, so he has to come up with a new plan. Burns launches The Night Late Tonight Show in an attempt to become more popular. Burns starts the show by referring to Madonna as a "harlot" before he says that he loathes topical humor and tells Smithers to fire the writing staff. When Krusty comes on the show as a guest, Burns asks him if the clip he brought needs to be set up, but Krusty says that it's just a basic teen nudie clown flick. Later into the show, Smithers tells Burns that they need to cancel his big duet as literally nobody is watching the show. Burns, wearing a Jamaican hat, says that Mr. Doggy Dog is going to be so disappointed.
