Marge Bulks Up is a The Simpsons Comic Strips story that was first published in 2001.

Synopsis[edit]

After watching a commercial for the Ab-Miser, Marge buys one so she can work out at home.

Plot[edit]

On the television, Rainier Wolfcastle advertises the Ab-Miser, the number one workout not recommended by fitness experts and the only one endorsed by genetically modified fitness monkeys. Marge thinks that she could lose a few pounds since bake sale season is coming up, and she shows a picture of a female bodybuilder, who supposedly used the Ab-Miser, to the family. Homer and Bart imagine Marge beating up women, including Helen Lovejoy.

Four to six weeks later, the Ab-Miser has arrived, and Marge works up a sweat struggling to put it together. Lisa says that it doesn't look very safe, but Marge tries it out anyway and gets stuck in the machine. She has to go to the hospital, where Dr. Hibbert tells her that she should be fine if she rests for a few days. Marge says that it's too bad that Dr. Hibbert can't prescribe anything to protect her from shoddy merchandise, but Hibbert tells her that there is, but her insurance doesn't cover it.
