Bowling is a popular sport played a lot by Homer. Homer has once got a perfect 300 game in bowling, making him a celebrity in Springfield.

After receiving a bowling ball engraved with Homer's own name as a birthday present from her husband, Marge Simpson began visiting Barney's Bowlarama out of frustration and learned the sport under the instruction of a bowler named Jacques. Although inexperienced at first, she gradually improved her game through regular lessons, learning about bowling techniques, scoring, strikes, spares, and difficult pin combinations.[1]
During a family visit to the White House, Simpsons family toured the presidential bowling alley, where a plaque claimed that former president Richard Nixon had once bowled two consecutive perfect 300 games. Homer reacted with disbelief, openly doubting the story as the family continued the tour.[2]
After becoming the leader of the Stonecutters, Homer regularly participated in social activities organized by the group, including bowling nights. During one game at a local bowling alley, Homer used a customized bowling ball marked “Chosen One.” Although one pin remained standing after his throw, Chief Wiggum shot down the final pin with his service revolver, allowing Homer to receive another strike.[3]
After paying off his debts, Homer quit the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and took a job at Barney's Bowlarama, where he happily worked as a bowling alley attendant. When he later asked for a raise, Homer attempted to increase business by standing outside the alley and firing a shotgun into the air to attract customers, though the plan failed. Despite eventually returning to the power plant after learning Marge was pregnant with Maggie, Homer remembered his time in bowling as one of the happiest periods of his life.[4]
