• The segment is a parody of the 2014 film The Babadook.
• Good Night, Escaped Gorilla and S'up, Moon? are parodies of Goodnight Moon.

• Chris Ledesma's creepy credit is "Chris 'One Last Time' Ledesma" which is referencing Ledesma's departure from the series as a music editor after 33 seasons as stated by a tweet by Matt Selman on May 17, 2022, 5 days before "Poorhouse Rock" aired.

Goofs

• Although Maggie Roswell is credited in the end credits, she doesn't provide any voice work for this episode. Maude's scream was recycled from "Alone Again, Natura-Diddily" in which the scream was provided by Marcia Mitzman Gaven, her second voice actress who replaced Roswell after briefly leaving the show after season 10 due to a pay dispute until Roswell returned in season 14.
